Challenge Hike and

D of E Bronze Practice

Saltney Ferry Scouts and Explorers attended the Flintshire District Challenge Hike weekend on Saturday 16th/17th April 2005. During the weekend four Explorers joined up with Penyffordd Group to carry out there Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Practice expedition. A total of almost 30 kilometres was walked during the weekend, and the weather was quite a challenge in itself on Sunday. Unfortunately a tent was lost on the Clwydian Mountains on the walk, which meant one Explorer and myself walking another 10 kilometres! The Scouts and some Young Leaders completed a less challenging walk, but quite an achievement for some very young Scouts. 15 Scouts/Explorers went in total, along with 2 leaders. A very good weekend was had by all, although it was a little tiring!
