Tarporley Cub Weekend

June 2nd - 4th 2006

Saltney Ferry Cub Scouts had a very enjoyable weekend around Tarporley Scout headquarters in June 2006. Exceptional weather, some brilliant trips out, a superb base, and some of the best Cubs you could wish to have, ensured we all had a good time. The weekend was based around Tarporley headquarters, which I only wish we could move to Saltney Ferry for our use. First night included some indoor games. On Saturday morning we visited Tarporley Chocolate Shop, in the Old Fire Station. The shop contained some really nice chocolates, but also some fairly hefty prices too. We then set off for Beeston Castle, for nearly five hours of fun. The entertainment came from the Harlech Medieval Society. They were taught the history of making swords and other equipment, fired a long bow, walked up to the castle, and saw a medieval battle. The Cubs and leaders had a brilliant time. At Beeston Castle it was time to invest our smallest Cub Scout, but they do say the best things come in small packages. We then went back to play games, and celebrate a Cubs ninth birthday. Sunday morning we went swimming at Winsford Sports Complex, and on our return home orienteering in Delamere Forest. A good weekend, and one everybody will remember.
