Aberfoyle Week Camp 2008

Scouts and Explorers

August 2nd - 9th

On Saturday 2nd August 2008 Saltney Ferry Scouts and Explorers set off for Aberfoyle for our week camp in Scotland. Some 280 miles and 7 hours later we arrive, thanks to the Landcruiser, Big Trailer, and Kinnertons minibus. A total of 23 people went, consisting of 4 leaders, 8 Explorers, and 11 Scouts. A very good bunch, who maintained that throughout what can only be described as a wet week.

During the week we had our usual messing around in the stream, at least when it was almost a stream and not a white water expedition. A stream/river which changed from 3 foot deep to 6 foot deep in a matter of hours. We had a survival day which was expertly done by the Explorers, and included our trial oven. Trips to Blair Drummond Safari Park, Stirling, Aberfoyle, a Cruise on Sir Walter Scott, swimming in Callendar, Bracklin Falls, Climbing at Benny Begg rock face, rafting, and lots more.

It was an excellent week, made even better by excellent Scouts, helpful and enthusiastic Explorers, and the leaders. During the week three Scouts were invested, and one Explorer. With Garry winning Explorer of the camp, and Andy Scout of the Camp.

Below are a number of pictures from the week:
