Birkenhead Gang Show

 Thursday 15th February 2007

Saltney Ferry Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, and Leaders went to watch the Birkenhead Gang Show in February 2007. Approximately 30 members of the group went, and enjoyed the evening. The Gang Show took place in Port Sunlight, Little Theatre. The presentation was carried out by Birkenhead/Merseyside Scouts.

Below is what one of our Explorers said about the event:

We were invited, as a group, to attend a gang show that had been put together by the district of Birkenhead. Now I know what you're thinking, loads of people running around the stage in shorts, where is the fun in that? Well I'm glad to report it was nothing like that. In fact it was the complete opposite with comic scenes running alongside scenes that carried the message about scouting and its founder, which might I add was done in a really interesting way with songs, acting and a presentation of pictures projected onto the stage.

During the performance we were entertained by the sections with 'guest' appearances from the likes of Robin Hood and his band of merry men, the sheriff of Nottingham, Elvis Presley, the three musketeers, Right Said Fred, the cast of High School Musical and a rap from the Wrinkly Bling group. Also we enjoyed singing along to those classic songs that belong to scouting and its gang shows including the finale song 'Riding along the crest of a wave'.
