Eccleston Hike and Crocky Trail
Friday 1st/2nd February 2008
Just as the snow started coming down on a cold February evening, we decide to go for a night hike and camp. The hike started in Dukes Drive on the outskirts of Chester, and finished in Aldford. Spending the night camping on the River Dee bank at Eccleston. Many thanks to the Duke of Westminster, and the Grosvenor Estates Management for once again allowing us to camp. It was typical that the first fall of snow for the year should come at the time of our hike, but they still coped with it well and camped in the hike tents anyway. Although a relatively short walk, it was an enjoyable one.
Once at Aldford we went in our cars to the Crocky Trail in Waverton. Spent a number of hours getting covered in mud, following the trail, and most of all having fun. Mud just seemed to add to the fun for our lot, although fortunately they had all brought a change of clothes so the cars were ok.
The event cost £10 each, and was attended by Scouts, Explorers, and a couple of Leaders. 15 in total, and we will do it again soon. Some pictures can be found below:
