Challenge Hike - D of E Practice

On the weekend of the 15th/16th March, Saltney Ferry Scouts and Explorers took part in hikes and bike rides. The Scouts took part in the Scout District Challenge Hike weekend. Where they did two hikes, camped in hike tents, cooked their own food, and planned the route. Walking approximately 20 kilometres, of which Saturdays weather was pretty poor. All the Scouts did very well. The Explorers were split into two groups. One group practicing a cycling expedition for their Duke of Edinburgh, and the other group a hike. Both Explorer groups had to carry their own equipment, cook their food, and generally look after themselves. All of these activities took place around Moel y Parc on the outskirts of Mold.
